BUTLER COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - Butler County public school officials are planning an aggressive move to move beyond the pandemic and begin the new school in the fall as one.
“I was very sad,” said Butler County Schools Superintendent Joe Eiland.
Eiland never wants to go through again what the school district endured over the last 12 months. It was on March 13 of last year when the wheels came off.

We have so many blessings to be thankful for each year. This year is one that we have more to be thankful for than we could ever imagine. Sometimes the good things are hidden in the fog of all the other things that are occurring around us and we have to be able to look past this to see how much we really have that is truly a blessing. We often tend to focus on the negative things around us that seem to stand out and dominate all that we do. It is often nice to step back, let the fog lift and point out the positives that surround us.
Vehicles filled the surrounding streets in the Washington Heights neighborhood during a candlelight vigil for Aramis Mora.
Greenville High School Principal Heath Jarvis was among the speakers during the memorial, recalling how Mora, 18, and a senior, was universally admired and respected, not only by her fellow students but by the teachers and administrators at the school.
âShe will be part of graduation ceremonies,â Jarvis said. âShe will receive her diploma because she is a part of this class and will always be remembered with this class.â
Mora was the victim of a Monday afternoon accident in which a car crashed into the familyâs house. A statement issued by the Greenville Police Department indicated officers responded to the 4700 block of Henry Street Monday about a major accident.
