Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and Cone Health are shifting their weekly first-dose vaccination schedules to adhere to the recommendation made by the state s health secretary.
Vaccination appointments are scheduled to resume online Wednesday for the Forsyth County Department of Public Health, including accepting individuals ages 65-74 for the first time.

Vaccine Appointments Widen In Buncombe
(Buncbome County, NC) Appointments for COVID-19 vaccines are opening up this week to more people in Buncombe County. Healthcare workers and residents aged 65-and-over are eligible to sign up for doses, which will be given starting February 1st. Health officials tell WLOS-TV around three-thousand vaccines have been administered so far, with around that many expected to be given this week. The state opened up vaccines for North Carolinians at least 65-years old last week.

More Counties Beginning New Vaccine Phase
(Henderson County, NC) More COVID-19 vaccines are being rolled out in western North Carolina this week. Haywood County health officials are beginning to register residents aged 75-and-older for appointments. Registration opened up for older residents in Henderson County as well, where more than 500 appointments were booked up yesterday. There s currently only one-thousand doses available in Henderson.
Buncombe County Man Charged With Murder
(Buncombe County, NC) A Buncombe County 74-year-old is in jail for murder. Ronald Haynes is accused of shooting his housemate to death on White Oak Gap Road yesterday. He was taken to the Buncombe County Detention Facility, and is being held without bond.
