A CAMPAIGN is kicking off to open up community pitches to youngsters across the area. Independent councillors Lynne Quinn and Tommy McVey are calling for greater access to Inverclyde Leisure s plastic parks. The councillors say the sites should be open on a permanent basis between 9am and 8pm and have pitched the idea - which would cost around £20k - to their fellow elected members. Crawl hole access to the facilities had previously been closed up due to anti-social behaviour. But a recent pilot scheme saw Drumshantie Road in Gourock and Greenock s Broomhill opened during the Easter school holidays and the trial proved a great success.
