Inverclyde Election 2021: SNP s Stuart McMillan vows to bring investment to Inverclyde Royal after landslide victory

A DELIGHTED Stuart McMillan last night pledged to protect services at Inverclyde Royal Hospital after sweeping to victory in the Scottish Parliamentary election. The re-elected MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde also promised that the SNP government will invest in the fabric of the IRH building which currently needs an estimated £100m worth of repairs. Mr McMillan told the Telegraph: The first minister copied me into an email reply to someone a few days ago and she made it very clear that IRH has a future.

One-minute silence at election count to mark anniversary of Greenock Blitz

A ONE-minute silence to mark the 80th anniversary of the Greenock Blitz will take place during the local election results count. Both events are on May 7 and as a mark of respect the returning officer, council chief executive Aubrey Fawcett, will lead the tribute. The Blitz landmark anniversary events have been scaled back as a result of the pandemic health restrictions, with the Provost laying a wreath at Greenock Cemetery. Voters go to the polls on May 6 but because of the current restrictions the counting of ballots will be conducted the following day at the Waterfront Leisure Centre, instead of overnight.
