Sentenced to 50 years, an accused killer will get a new trial

HARTFORD In a 4-to-3 decision, the state Supreme Court Tuesday ordered a new trial for a Bridgeport man serving a 50-year prison term for murder.
The state’s highest court ruled that Billy Ray Jones is entitled to a new trial because the trial judge failed to instruct the jury on the question of credibility of informants who are facing criminal charges of their own.
Jones’ lawyer, Public Defender Mark Rademacher, said the Supreme Court made new law with its decision.
