Little town of Greencastle to set big world record if it can gather 12,482 pairs of shoes
The publicity stunt is all for a good cause, as the shoes will go to people in need here across the globe.

Thousands of pairs of shoes will be lined up in downtown Greencastle on Saturday, June 5, in an attempt to break a decade-old record for the longest chain of shoes.
Local residents can contribute footwear to the effort to set a Guinness World Record organized by VerStandig Media with support from Middletown Valley Bank, ELM Shoes, Chambersburg Waste Paper and the Borough of Greencastle.

About 25 community members put on gloves and picked up trash in Greencastle during a May Day Clean-Up on Saturday, May 1.
Clean-up day was part of the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce s Community Advantage initiative and was held in partnership with the Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful program and with support from Waste Management.

The Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce is planning the 54th annual Greencastle Sidewalk Days from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 9, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 10.
The annual event will feature bargains from local merchants, vendors, food and entertainment.
By permission of PennDOT and approval of the Borough of Greencastle, Baltimore Street from U.S. 11 to Washington Street and South Carlisle Street from Center Square to Franklin Street will be closed to traffic.
Sponsorship opportunities are available including: Signature Sponsor, Entertainment Sponsor, Volunteer Sponsor, Safety Sponsor and Supporting Sponsor. Sponsorships include acknowledgement in marketing materials including sign boards, press releases, social media and radio announcements.
