NORTH GREENBUSH, N.Y. â North Greenbush police recently arrested Wilson Pereira, 25, of Rensselaer, following simultaneous investigations of an alleged vehicle theft and traffic accident.
Officers responded to the intersection of Bloomingrove Drive and Route 4 for a head-on collision at around 7 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers learned that one of the drivers fled on foot. About 10 minutes later, another call was received that a vehicle had been stolen from Greenbush Commons about a quarter of a mile away from that scene. Police noted they quickly discovered one of the vehicles involved in the collision had been reported stolen.
Rensselaer police officers located Pereira on Washington Avenue matching the description of the driver that had fled and he was taken into custody following identification by witnesses.
