The DeRidder Police Department and the Beauregard Parish Sheriff s Office issued a joint statement that on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at approximately 12:39 a.m., the DeRidder Police Department and the Beauregard Parish Sheriffâs Office responded to a shooting near an apartment complex on Greenbriar Street in DeRidder.
Upon officersâ arrival, officers located a victim with a gunshot wound, who was transported to a local hospital.
The DeRidder Police Department and Beauregard Parish Sheriffâs Office have made arrests in connection with the shooting: Nakylan Blake, Nakeya âKPâ Blake, and Jalyn Thurman have been arrested for LA R.S. 14:27 / 14:30.1, Attempted Second-Degree Homicide. All three are being held without bond.

DERIDDER, La. (KPLC) - Two men are wanted and three have been arrested in connection with a shooting near an apartment complex in DeRidder.
At approximately 12:39 a.m. on Feb. 9, the DeRidder Police Department and Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting near an apartment complex on Greenbriar Street in DeRidder.

DOBSON White Plains Elementary School Counselor Jennie Smith is one of thousands of teachers across the United States to achieve National Board certification, and one of 78 National Board certified teachers in the Surry County School System.
In a school year, during which in-person learning came to a standstill in many locations, 2,576 educators pursued and received National Board certification.

Just this past year we have seen policymakers support board certification; communities applaud teachers in virtual, in-person, and hybrid roles; and teachers themselves strive to improve their practice and deliver on behalf of their students.
