A new report by the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) shows that grocery stores, including Walmart, are leaking greenhouse gases like hydrofluorocarbons (HFC) into the air. The report found that many are leaking a refrigerant that’s dangerous for climate change.

Leaking Havoc: Exposing Your Supermarket’s Invisible Climate Pollution looked at Walmart and other large grocery chains in the Washington, D.C. area, including Maryland and Virginia. The months-long investigation found that half of the stores were leaking refrigerants. EIA camera’s detected refrigerant leaking onto products in a store, in one instance.

Oh penguins, you can’t fly in the sky so you swim in the sea. It’s almost poetic! These fascinating flightless birds are the favorite of many school science reports (I once made a series of paper fairy penguins. It was magical.) and they are one of Earth’s many awesome creatures. When it’s mid-summer and too hot to even think about cooking, make this soup. Toss a handful of things in a blender and, before you know it, you have something cool and refreshing yet surprisingly satisfying. The latter is thanks to tahini, the sesame seed paste that’s most commonly used to make hummus.It lends creaminess and nutty flavor but, more importantly, it adds a bit of protein and healthy fat, which turns this chilled soup into a light meal. Factory farming is unbelievably cruel to the animals who have to endure its cycle of confinement, distress, fear, pain, and death, and the industry is incredibly harmful to the environment as well.
