According to Fort Air Partnership (FAP), a local not-for-profit air monitoring organization, Fort Saskatchewan has recorded an Air Quality Health Index rating of seven out of ten the past few days due to the smoke. A seven out of ten is considered a high level health risk and the Government of Alberta recommends reducing or rescheduling any strenuous outdoor activities while readings are at this level.

The special air quality statement in effect for Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park and Fort Saskatchewan was updated just before 11 a.m Sunday, warning of wildfire smoke causing poor air quality and reducing visibility at times. Lousy air quality due to the wildfire smoke hovered over most of the province all weekend.
