HENRY COUNTY, Va. – The Virginia State Police and the Virginia Missing Children Clearinghouse have canceled an AMBER Alert after a child abducted from Henry County Friday afternoon was found safe.
Few details were released but investigators confirm that 12-year-old Allie Broadaway was located Saturday and that her alleged abductor, 21-year-old Kaleb Christopher Merritt, is in police custody.
The girl reportedly left her home at 2373 Reed Creek Drive in Bassett voluntarily. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office was investigating Merritt at the time of the child’s disappearance. The two had been contacting each other through social media at the time of her abduction.
