In its first-ever tree census, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has identified 1,56,067 lakh trees in 12 zones so far. However, the work is still ongoing and only 27% of the wards have been covered. The mayor's office claims that 65-70% of tree numbering has been completed in all 12 zones of Delhi.
“On the lines of Kejriwal government, MCD's Aam Aadmi Party government is promoting greenery, for the first time 'Tree Census' is being conducted in the wards,” Mayor Shelly Oberoi said.
