FRAMINGHAM Framingham now has more active cases of COVID-19 than at any point during the city’s spring surge.
On Friday, the city announced that it had logged 135 new cases of the coronavirus and one new death since Wednesday.
Framingham now has 934 active cases of COVID-19. The highest number of active cases in the city during the spring surge was 843, according to a Daily News tracker.
A Thursday report from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health again placed Framingham in the red zone, a label given to communities at the highest risk of coronavirus spread.
Under the current metrics, municipalities of Framingham s size are considered to be in the red zone if they average 10 or more cases per 100,000 people daily over the prior two weeks and have a test positivity rate of 4% or higher.
