Green energy updates coming to town

Christopher Shea Jul 26, 2021 The town of Dartmouth has received $172,720 from the state’s Green Communities Grant program, officials announced at a July 26 Select Board meeting. Director of Development Cody Haddad noted that funds will go toward energy-efficient upgrades around town. This year, he said the town plans to implement new exterior lighting at Apponagansett Park, an energy management system upgrade at Dartmouth High and the Southworth Library, and updated charging stations at Town Hall and the Council on Aging. Three town employees will also be sent to get their building operator certification. “It’s a significant sum for us to save in the future, that’s for sure,” Select Board Chair Shawn McDonald said. “I’d be interested to see the expenditure versus what we end up saving over a period of time.”
