Dear Rishi, we need you, perhaps as much as we need anyone.. to join our campaign for a Green Britain. The three big areas of life we need to tackle are Energy, Transport and Food. And your government has a vital role to play.
IN THE fight against Covid, our nation has led the world, not only in the development and distribution of vaccines, but also in crucial medical research. As the virus s deadly menace begins to recede, Britain can be at the forefront of tackling another huge global challenge: the quest to stop environmental degradation.
But Covid has given us a new world - where air pollution is down, working from home is possible for millions, commuting is unnecessary, and appreciation of green spaces and nature is at an all time high.
When the happy day comes that lets us out of jail, we do not want to go back to our old ways.
We need to build a cleaner, greener Britain, that works as much as possible with nature instead of seeing it as a resource to be plundered.
As Boris Johnson said only last week: “We in the UK are determined not only to build back better from Covid but build back greener as well.”

It found that two in three of us are worried by climate change and the decline in wildlife.
The same proportion is worried about the state of the planet that we will leave for future generations. Remarkably, concerns about the environment far outstrip one of the traditional issues focussed on by politicians. The survey of 2,167 UK adults last week by Savanta ComRes found 39 percent were worried about crime in their local area.
