Dick Callahan, the public-address announcer for A’s games at the Oakland Coliseum for 15 seasons, died Friday morning, the team announced on Twitter. Today we lost a beloved member of our Green & Gold family, Dick Callahan. Our home games will not be the same without his voice echoing through the Coliseum, the A s tweeted.
Callahan voiced more than 1,000 home games for the Oakland A s, including his 1,000th game, a no-hitter thrown by A’s right-hander Mike Fiers against the Cincinnati Reds on May 7, 2019. Callahan missed the pandemic-shortened 2020 MLB season due to health issues, Athletics Nation said.
