MUMBAI: The charred bodies of three crew members were recovered by the Indian Coast Guard from the offshore vessel (OSV) Greatship Rohini on Sunday morning, 24 hours after a fire broke out in its engine room.
The body of fourth engineer Anit Antony (31) was found in the engine room, while those of fitter Akshay Nikam (25) and oiler Ranjit Sawant (49) were recovered from the tween deck area by the search-and-rescue team around 10.15am. “The bodies were burnt beyond recognition.Casualty investigation has been ordered. Captain Jayakumar, principal officer, MMD Mumbai, will conduct the inquiry,” director general of shipping Amitabh Kumar said.

MUMBAI: The bodies of three crew members, including the 4th-engineer, from Mumbai, were found in the engine room and the tween deck onboard offshore vessel (OSV) Greatship Rohini on Sunday, 24 hours after a fire broke on the vessel approximately 91 nautical miles (around 171 kms) at Bombay High.
The three were charred beyond recognition after they got trapped inside the vessel when the fire erupted in the engine room at around 9.15 am on Saturday.

The bodies were discovered on Sunday during a search operation conducted jointly by eight crew members of Greatship Rohini and 11 Coast Guard personnel.
Bodies of two members were found from the tween-deck area and the third body, with burn injuries, was recovered from the engine control room. The deceased have been identified as Anit Anthony, 31, 4th engineer; Akshay Nikam, 55, who was working as fitter; and Ranjit Sawant, 51, who was working as oiler.

The fire was doused at around 4pm.
MUMBAI: One electro-technical officer (ETO) who suffered second-degree burns was airlifted to Juhu base and three crews were missing till late Saturday after a fire broke out inside the engine room onboard offshore shore vessel (OSV) Greatship Rohini at Bombay High at around 9.15am.

The fire was doused at around 4pm.
Officials said the ETO, identified as Gurbeender Singh (37), was airlifted in a chopper and shifted to a hospital at Juhu.
Meanwhile, search for the three missing crews was on till late Saturday.
