Karbi Anglong beat defending champions Morigaon 2-0

Diphu, Sep.6 (EMN):  Karbi Anglong team entered the quarter-finals of the 70th Senior Inter-District Football Championship (Khirud Baruah Memorial Trophy) after defeating Morigaon in the final of the qualifying matches for Zone – C, played at Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) stadium on September 5. The tournament is organised by Assam Football Association and hosted by KASA. It was a thrilling encounter as both teams displayed strong attacking football. The chief executive member, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang, who is also president of KASA with other EMs and MACs also witnessed the match. Morigaon who were the defending champion made repeated forays into the rival’s territory but failed to penetrate the strong defence of the KA players. KASA drub Jirpo Chingri FC 4-0 to lift GDSA trophy

Our Correspondent Diphu, Aug.16 (EMN): Karbi Anglong Sports Association (Senior) Football Coaching Centre (KASA – Senior FCC) drubbed Jirpo Chingri FC 4-0 to lift the Greater Diphu Sports Association (GDSA) Football League Championship B- Division, in the final match played at KASA stadium on Tuesday. KASA FCC boys drew first blood in 15th minute of the first half through Pritom Dera assisted by Borish Engjai. Jirpo Chingri players failed to take control of the ball as the KASA FCC players outsmarted them in almost all departments. In the second half, Jirpo Chingri boys tried their best to even the score but their efforts were in vain as Pritom Dera scored the second goal for his team through an assist from Songja Taro midway in the second half. The fate of Jirpo Chingri boys were more or less sealed as Pritom scored his hat trick in the 15 minutes later.
