Her entire rear end was paralyzed and she was just pulling herself along the roadside. She was rescued and initially the vet felt she had a hip issue but xrays showed that she had a vertebrae injury. The surgery is quite invasive and only improves the condition for a small percentage of dogs (the surgery can even make the condition worse).
