Belarusians have made serious progress in communicating the truth about the country's history, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova said at the seminar “The Republic of Belarus: From the origins to the present (historical path of state building)”, BelTA has learned.
In today's distraught world, the Great Victory has become a target of destructive forces, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova said at the plenary session of the international parliamentary conference “Historical Memory: The Great Victory Gained by Unity” in the Oval Hall.
“The truth about the Great Patriotic War is sacred for us. The Belarusian people cherish the memory of the feat of arms of the Soviet soldiers, the courageous resistance of partisans and underground fighters. The Belarusian people have never rewritten history, never turned traitors and executioners into heroes and victims,” said Roman Golovchenko.
The official stressed that our nations sacrificed millions of lives to break the backbone of fascism and free Europe from the brown plague but now they are branded as occupants.
