Vaccination Deadline approaching for healthcare workers

Burlington, IA- Health Care workers are facing a choice due to a federal mandate, get a COVID-19 vaccine or lose their job. It's a choice that could put an even greater strain on an industry already facing worker shortages. Great River Health Systems CEO Matt Wenzel told the Burlington Beacon that "Like any other industry right now, there is a workforce shortage." The Federal Mandate comes from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which oversees reimbursement for hospitals. If a hospital fails to comply with the mandate, they would lose their CMS funding. The deadline for healthcare workers to get vaccinated is January 4th, 2022.
