ALPENA, Mich. The Great Lakes Great Responsibility partnered with Great Lakes Divers last week working toward a goal of picking up one million pieces of trash along the beaches.
Founder of Great Lakes Great Responsibility Meag Schwartz said their mission is to pick up one million pieces of trash throughout the Great Lakes basin. This includes all five great lakes, their shorelines and any watersheds that contribute to the basin.
Schwartz said picking up the million pieces is a long–term goal that they’re working toward but added that her organization has an additional mission.
Schwartz said at last week’s trash pick at Rockport State Park her organization together with Great Lakes Divers collected less than 100 pieces.
