$6 million in Registered Apprenticeship grants will support career opportunities for underrepresented populations | News, Sports, Jobs

Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity LANSING The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) announced the recipients of grants totaling more than $6 million to help support the development of over 2,300 Registered Apprenticeship opportunities throughout the state. The State Apprenticeship Expansion grants have been awarded to nine Regional Implementation Consortia to increase and develop registered apprenticeship opportunities. Funds provided by the grant awards will help support 200 employer sponsors for Registered Apprenticeship Program costs, including on-the-job learning and related technical instruction. “Increasing access to Registered Apprenticeship programs means more opportunities for job seekers to earn while they learn, gaining in-demand skills and a nationally recognized credential in a critical industry,” LEO Acting Director Susan Corbin said. “At the same time, it helps local Michigan businesses fill a continuous talent pipel

Delta offering two-week manufacturing job training program   Program developed in response to high demand from regional employers Midland Daily News FacebookTwitterEmail A new job training program at Delta College will equip individuals with the skills necessary for entry-level jobs in manufacturing, a type of job that is in high demand right now. The Manufacturing Warehouse and Logistics Fast Start program will train people in the areas of safety, computer skills, hand and power tools, procedure use and communications. Interview preparation will also be provided. The program includes classroom and hands-on training on Delta’s main campus and at a forklift facility.
