May 28, 2021 One of the few historic Great Camps in the Adirondacks open to the public is commemorating its 100th season this summer. The Hedges was originally the Duryea Camp, built in the late 1800 s.
The Collins family welcomed the first lodging guests to the camp in 1921, and the rustic resort has continued to offer family lodging options ever since.
Todd Moe spoke with Mary Grainger. She and her family have been summer guests at The Hedges for 30 years.
Situated in a coveted space on Lake Placid s Main Street, the historic Hotel North Woods will reopen this fall after a major renovation, unveiling a fresh look under a new name: Grand Adirondack Hotel, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel.
