After a three-year hibernation, Marlborough Gliding Club is taking to the skies once more. Chief instructor Jamie Halstead and club captain Roger Wadham with the Twin-Astir glider which they will use to train student pilots.
The Marlborough Gliding Club, dormant for the past three years, is about to soar once more with a vision to put Marlborough back on the map as a premier gliding destination. Thirty years ago, the club became the focus of international aviation enthusiasts, when Ray Lynskey broke the 2000-kilometre barrier for a non-stop flight by a glider – a feat many believed impossible without night flying.
