Shreveport Chief of Police Ben Raymond shared the city s crime statistics as a participant in Caddo Parish Ken Epperson’s “The Grassroots Forum Thursday morning. “We ended 2020 still at a historical low for total Part 1 Crimes,” Raymond said. “Sometimes it’s misunderstood when I say total Part 1 Crime is down. When we talk about Part 1 Crime, we’re talking about eight categories of crime that the FBI uses to compare municipalities, counties, parishes, and law enforcement agencies to one another.” Laws are different across all 50 states, Raymond said. “States compile eight different categories so we can compare ourselves respectively,” Raymond said. Those categories are homicide, rape, robbery, burglary, auto theft, assault, and battery.”
