WACO, TX â Grassroots Community Development and the G.W. Carver students have partnered together for a food drive in honor of Alicia Martinez, who passed in January due to COVID-19 complications.
Martinez was an intern with Grassroots and worked with students on their Teen Leadership Program.
The Teen Leadership Program at Grassroots Community Development is designed to help kids in the Waco-area develop leadership skills all while helping their fellow community members.
Grassroots and the students wanted to continue Martinez s legacy by creating a food drive in her name. All food will later be donated to Caritas Waco.

WACO, TX â Baylor University is mourning the death of a student who passed Sunday from COVID-19 complications.
Alicia Martinez, a 2020 graduate of the Diana Garland School of Social Work and current social work graduate student, passed away today in Waco from complications from COVID-19, according to a letter from Baylor President Linda A. Livingstone.
