rnc should be sort of singling out members of our party who may have different views from the majority. that is not the job of the rnc. the rnc is defending the resolution arguing that it represents the view of grass roots republicans, not those in, quote, the dc bubble. the resolution also represents the views of donald trump. just the latest example of the former president pushing the envelope forcing his supporters to take difficult positions on everything from mike pence s power to overturn the election to pardons for january 6th rioters. all of which for some republicans have finally proved to be a bridge too far. leigh ann caldwell is on capitol hill for us this morning. and ben collins investigates disinformation and extremism. and phil rucker is deputy national editor for the washington post and co-author of i alone can fix it. and geoff bennett is correspondent for the pbs news
let s see what happens, thank you very much, paula reid reporting for us. let s get more insight from cnn political analyst, maggie haberman, the washington correspondent for the new york times. she can ring all the alarm bells, but the fact is the majority of republican voters still say they think the election was stolen. how much weight does her voice carry in all of this? look, i think, wolf, her voice is much more significant, frankly, among people like us than it is among grass roots republicans, and among some senior republicans, some independent, she is a significant voice, but it does not carry the same sway as donald trump s voice does with this group of voters. i don t think that s going to deter her from saying what she s saying, and i think there are republicans who are deeply opposed to former president trump and who want to make sure that their voices are heard, but at the moment, the party s base is with the former president and contrary to predictions that that wa
trump. he will hold a solo news conference with reporters. this will be just his fourth one since taking office. his second in this country. aides tell cnn despite the new allegations against judge brett kavanaugh, president trump will continue to unequivocally defend his supreme court nominee. in fact, we re told that he will question the motivations of the now three accusers. cnn s senior white house correspondent, jeff zeleny, joins me from outside trump tower. the president ignored a question from a reporter about whether he thought the three accusers will lying. but doubtful he ll be able to dodge that question in a few minutes. reporter: well, jake, it is an open question if he ll be able to dodge that or not. he did have that look of annoyance and exasperation on his face when he was asked that. and that is one thing that actually concerns some republicans on capitol hill. will the president be helpful in this news conference? or will he actually hurt the cause? president trum
