thank you for joining us. the u.s. military is piecing together the puzzle of what staff sergeant rasht bales was doing in afghanistan. the most surprising detail seems to be his decision to split his ram passenger into two trips. here is the latest on the investigation and the military s attempts to make amends. this case is becoming more and more curious. for every detail that is released, more questions emerge. the latest comes from a u.s. official that told cnn that bales left his base, went to one village, returned to his base and went to another. in both villages people were massac massacred. who may have seen him when he returned to base? did he go inside? how was itd discovered that he left and how did he end up in two different villages without anybody noticing. the next bit of information is an afghan official that compensation has been paid to the victims of the massacre. we are talking about a figure around $860,000. the equivalent of that has been paid in afgha
