A NATURE reserve has been boosted by a new wildlife lookout after the site was targeted by arsonists. The lookout, based at Essex Wildlife Trust’s Two Tree Island nature reserve in Leigh, replaces one burnt to the ground in 2019. Monty’s Lookout, designed by Green Roof Shelters, was rebuilt after donations by the community and provides a space to watch for birds, and a habitat for species including insects, birds and even bats. Rosalyn Leclercq, senior legacy officer, said: “When the previous hide was so badly vandalised it effected more than just the nature reserve. “The Boulton family were particularly devastated as they had not long funded the interpretation in memory of Marion Frances Boulton, however, they valiantly organised a JustGiving appeal to help fund the replacement of the hide and interpretation.
