This is Al Jazeera America, good morning and live from new york city, im Randall Pinkston, a kentucky clerk who refuses to issue marriage licenses because of her religious beliefs faces a judge today, kim davis and her staff will appear in federal court to face contempt charges for davis continued defiance of the law, she refuses to issue licenses to anyone to avoid giving them to gay couples and we have more at the woman at the center of the controversy. Kim davis is hoping this federal judge will delay that court order so she can appeal a decision relating to an injunction that the governor filed. Kim davis has been the center of controversy for many weeks here and to some she has become sort of a hero in rowan county. [chanting] before kim davis was at the epicenter of the battle over same sex marriage [chanting] she led a life of little notoriety, elected official who followed in her mothers footsteps ran rowan, kentucky Clerks Office and people go to her for records and licenses.
Fix situations. Reporter the problem began september 2nd when the school discovered a leak in the gas pipe. The pipe was shut off and no one was hurt. It was fine till this week when the temperatures dropped in the low 50s by some estimates. Walking in to the classrooms myself, some are comfortable but some we still have to keep our jackets and scarves on and thats not okay. Reporter fixing the gas line is the responsibility of the School District, not pg e. The district said the pipe was old and its been unable to get started on the underground repairs. They go across the hetch hetchy water line. Its required we get approval from the hetch hetchy Regional Water system. Reporter parents say it never should have gotten to this point. The School District needs to be on top of their stuff. They need to be aware of whats going on in every school in the district and apparently theyre not. The district says its expected to make sh repairs over the holiday and that when students return in jan
