St. Marys is floating a new idea by residents and visitors interested in trying out a unique way to explore the town’s most historically significant places.

The Southwestern Ontario town near Stratford launched a kayak-lending program through its public library on Monday, which means those interested in exploring its waterfront but lacked the equipment are no longer up a creek without a paddle, so to speak.

“Our waterways have long been a great recreational asset to our town,” St. Marys Mayor Al Strathdee said in a release. “The Yak Shack is a perfect way for residents and visitors alike to have access to a kayak and to experience our Thames River and Trout Creek.”
