Accra decongestion: Some traders to be relocated to Adjen Kotoku – Regional Minister

Accra decongestion: Some traders to be relocated to Adjen Kotoku – Regional Minister LISTEN 4 HOURS AGO Some traders in the central business district of Accra will be relocated by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) to another site at Adjen Kotoku, a community within the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region. The city authorities say tomato, onion, and yam traders in the capital will be moved to the place to help decongest the metropolis. Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey who made the announcement said: “It is part of decongesting Accra. We are not saying we want to make life unbearable for the people. Moving them will rather boost their business. I doubt even that when you go to the place where yams are sold, they have a yard like this to keep their yam This is a better and more modern approach to do business because it is more or less like the middle of Accra.”

There s still Covid-19 ban on public gatherings - Police to #FixTheCountry protesters

The police has reminded organisers of the #FixTheCountry protest that there is still a ban on public gatherings as part of the coronavirus pandemic protocols. The organisers of the protest had written to the police informing them of their intention to hit the streets on May 9, 2021 but in a response, the police said they will not be available to provide them protection. The police however reminded and advised the organisers that the ban on public gatherings in line with COVID-19 protocols is still in force. One of the convenors of the group, Adatse Brownson has said they are still engaging the police on the issue with their lawyers.
