Some Granite Shoals residents don’t like the proposed Granite Pointe development, and they let the City Council know their feelings during its regular meeting Tuesday, May 11.
“There’s been a lack of transparency from day one,” resident Stephen Davis said during a public hearing on the development’s zoning change request. “This has been pushed before us. It’s a big mistake. Density will cause a problem for us, and we’re all concerned.”

While most golfers in the West Kootenay are still rubbing the rust off the game from the long offseason, Larry Marinas of Nelson is already in mid-season form.
Marinas recorded the first hole-in-one of the season at Granite Pointe Golf Course in Nelson on Thursday, April 29
th after scoring the feat on the 15
th hole with a group of golfing buddies.
Marinas hit an 8-iron on the 191-yard Par three, scoring the Ace from the White Tees.

Granite Pointe ready for golfers
Granite Pointe Golf Course in Nelson is joining many of the other tracks in the West Kootenays, opening the course to members Monday.
Granite Pointe Golf Operations Manager Reg Clarkson said Monday will be a soft opening to the 2021 season, with nine holes back nine available for golfers to clean off any rust that may have formed on the game from the past off season.
