Melvin S Surratt, 35, of Godfrey, was charged March 5 with escape, a Class 3 felony.
Also on March 5, Justin D. Johnson, 43, listed as homeless out of Alton, was charged with escape, a Class 3 felony.
Both cases were presented by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.
According to court records, Surratt, who had been convicted of being a felon in possession of a weapon on Nov. 12 and was conditionally released from the Madison County Jail through an electronic home monitoring detention program, violated the terms of that program by not returning to the jail at a designated time.
