Washington [US], January 28 (ANI): Oscar winner and multiple Emmy-winning actor Cloris Leachman has passed away. She was 94 when she breathed her last.

Among her achievements, Leachman won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in The Last Picture Show (1971), a Golden Globe for Phyllis (1975-77) and was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 2011.

She also appeared in three Mel Brooks films, notably as Frau Blucher in Young Frankenstein (1974), and as Grandma Ida in the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle, for which she won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series (2006).
But it is perhaps another Emmy-award winning role as Phyllis Lindstrom, in The Mary Tyler Moore Show, for which she is best remembered.

Hollywood star Cloris Leachman, an Iowa native, dies at 94

Des Moines native Cloris Leachman, the winner of Emmys and an Oscar for her work in movies and television, has died of natural causes at the age of 94.
Her acting career started in Des Moines in 1941. Michael Morain of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs saw Leachman in 2016 when she was honored at the Des Moines Playhouse.
“I had a few short, brief, but delightful encounters with Cloris Leachman,” Morain said. “Anyone who crossed paths with her or saw her on screen understands that she was fearless. Her sense of humor is one of a kind and her feisty spirit came across in everything she did on stage and just in her everyday life.”

The Mary Tyler Moore Show, has passed away at age 94. The beloved actress died of natural causes in Encinitas, Calif., according to a statement from her manager. It s been my privilege to work with Cloris Leachman, one of the most fearless actresses of our time. There was no one like Cloris, her manager, Juliet Green, said in a statement. With a single look, she had the ability to break your heart or make you laugh till the tears ran down your face. You never knew what Cloris was going to say or do and that unpredictable quality was part of her unparalleled magic.
