Multiple excavators and around half a dozen dumper trucks were used to carry out the demolition, Noida authority officials said. The exercise was carried out amid heavy police presence.
Noida Authority had issued notice to more than 100 encroachers to remove the encroachments after conducting a survey. The notice stated to remove the trees planted outside one Shrikant Tyagi`s house and other encroachments, mostly temporary constructions outside ground-floor apartments.
The Noida police have booked around 75 people, mostly members of the Tyagi community, who had protested in support of jailed politician Shrikant Tyagi outside his society here, officials said on Thursday.
Shrikant Tyagi s wife claimed a threat from Gautam Buddh Nagar MP Mahesh Sharma. BJP s local unit chief trashed allegations against Sharma and urged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to order a probe by the CBI.
