In a statement on Saturday, the Council noted that the decision to limit the Hajj for this year (1442 H/ 2021 AD) is part of the coronavirus-containment measures and is aimed at ensuring that Hajj is performed in a safe manner, adding that the decision is in line in line with the teachings of Islam in preserving the lives of human beings.

RIYADH, May 13, 2021 (BSS/SPA) – Muslims performed Eid-ul-Fitr prayer throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Thursday morning.
In Makkah, the prayer was performed at the Grand Holy Mosque and led by Imam of the Grand Mosque Sheikh Saleh bin Abdullah bin Humaid, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The prayer was attended by Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah Region; Prince Badr bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, and a number of princes.
In Madinah, the prayer was performed at the Prophet’s Holy Mosque. The prayer was attended by Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Madinah Region; and Prince Saud bin Khalid Al-Faisal, Deputy Governor of Madinah Region.

To this end, the ministry announced in a statement the kingdom s intention to hold Haj this year, 1442 AH, in a manner that ensures preserving the health and safety of pilgrims . The ministry said that it seeks to ensure that arrangements are held in accordance with all health, security and regulatory controls and standards, so that pilgrims can perform their rituals easily and in a safe environment .
