2021 Michigan Winter Beer Festival canceled due to COVID-19

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – West Michigan’s premier winter event has been canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The Michigan Brewers Guild made the decision Wednesday to cancel its upcoming Winter Beer Festival “in the interest of health and safety in the continued wake of COVID-19.”
The festival, which annually brings more than 100 Michigan breweries with more than 1,000 unique beers to West Michigan, was scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 27 at Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park.
“While this is yet another disappointment, with the new vaccines now being administered, we are looking forward to a more normal year later in 2021,” said Scott Graham, MBG Executive Director. “We thank you for your understanding and wish all of you a safe, healthy and Happy New Year.”
Local Coast Guard personnel received a holiday surprise last week, thanks to the Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival staff.
The festivalâs executive director, Mike Smith, explained that itâs an annual tradition for the festival committee to purchase toys for children of local enlisted families. Gift cards are also distributed to the families.
âThis year, we could not hold a physical get-together based on the status of COVID-19, but we want to make sure families know we remember them,â Smith said. âWe partnered with Meijer, and our marketing director, Annie Lengkeek, went shopping and bought all these beautiful gifts, from Nerf guns to talking dolls.
