Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Finance Ministry has decided to provide a Rs 5000/- allowance to low income earning families and samurdhi beneficiaries, affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, for the upcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
A press statement quoting State Minister Shehan Semansinghe noted the allowance will be provided on the directive of the President and the Prime Minister on the request made by ruling party MPs.
The Presidential Task Force for Economic Revival and Poverty Eradication will carry out the provision of the Rs 5000/- allowance to identified families at Grama Niladhari Level, it added.
Samurdhi Officers have been requested to provide the allowance before the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
