Tactics to scare off the thieves. Jackie. Reporter michelle and anne, were outside the hall of justice where a press conference just finished minutes ago. San francisco District Attorney George Gascon says that he wants to reduce the number of car breakins by 20 by the end of the year and he has a plan to do it. So he said a lot of these are organized crimes, which makes quick arrests nearly impossible because they happen so fast. To try to solve this epidemic, gascon presented a threepoint plan, first a 24 7 auto burglary web reporting system and phone tip line now in place. Next up, the d. A. s office is going to ask the San Francisco board of supervisors for 1 million to secure funding for an Auto Burglary Task force. And lastly, gascon wants to republish the register your camera program. He hopes it will reduce the number of breakins drastically. This is really a way for all of us to come together and to make sure that we end this problem this year. That its our goal and its a goal

I just happened to be visiting, and i didnt really know what to how to dress when i was coming out here from new york. So im wearing tweed [laughter] so im going to take it off. I just wanted you to see that i do, in fact, have a jacket. [laughter] i, i love history, and i have for a long time. I studied history in school, in graduate school. And what had always appealed to me as a historian was strong stories. And so my first book was a biography of alfred e. Smith, the first catholic to run for president , a poor boy who became the great reforming governor of new york and then would have been a great president , but he got wiped out by herbert hoover. And i love that story. I spent 20 years writing it, and i decided when it was done, id better hurry up on the next book or id be dead. The
