More and More Fed-up Americans Are Defying COVID Edicts

Photo Credit: Christina Orta It became clear to many this year that for many blue state and city leaders, there are two classes of Americans: (1) those allowed to destroy property, loot storefronts, and attack innocent bystanders as part of “mostly peaceful protests,” and (2) those who are expected to follow bans on attending worship services, celebrating social events and contributing to the local hospitality industry as a duty to protect “public health and safety.” For months this summer, Americans   especially those living in Washington   watched in horror as violent mobs, many of whose members were bused in from other states, took over blocks of downtown Seattle, including an abandoned police precinct, and created their own “autonomous zone.”

Washington State Gym Owner Defying COVID Closure Order Despite Nearly $10K/Day Fine: ‘This Is Tyrannical Overreach’ By Craig Bannister | December 15, 2020 | 10:36am EST (Screenshot) Mike Knick, owner of Graham Fitness in Washington State, is keeping his business open despite a $9,639 a day fine for violating the state’s coronavirus shutdown mandate. “This is tyrannical overreach,” Knick told Fox & Friends First in an interview on Tuesday: “This Is Tyrannical Overreach. These people, our elected officials took an oath to office to uphold the Constitution and they’re doing the opposite: they’re trampling on it right now.” Knick, who has accumulated $77,112 in fines to-date, says he is staying open because he believes he is providing a safe environment for his customers and he also needs to be able to provide for his family – and relying on a government handout simply won’t work:

(Courtesy photo) While the Department of Labor and Industries is getting, on average, 329 complaints a day about businesses defying Governor Inslee’s coronavirus restrictions, only a handful of businesses statewide have actually gotten to the point of incurring fines. Complaints come in concerning businesses that are open in defiance of the governor’s orders, that are providing prohibited services, or that are not correctly following the precautions. Many of those complaints are concerning the same few dozen businesses. “I believe the total, since all of this began, is 40 to 50 businesses that we have received complaints on, and that we have moved forward to cite and fine them,” said Tim Church, communications director for L&I.
