The plague of pandemic puppies has only made a bad situation worse. Until some brave politicians decide to limit dog ownership, prohibit retractable leashes, increase animal-control bylaw enforcement and impose other strict measures, the dog problem will persist and worsen. Brian Mason Central Saanich is the place to be Watching and reading the bickering and controversies taking place in one or two other jurisdictions in our Capital Regional District, plus shootings, beatings, robberies, illegal campsites, drug dealing and “shooting up” etc., I feel so thankful being a longtime resident of Central Saanich. Seems we have a pretty sound and sensible mayor with stable and supportive council, a nice combination of residential, farm, rural and commercially zoned land, excellent municipal workforce, policing, ambulance service and fire protection, in addition to a great little hospital and good schools.
Pete Small appointed as new area manager of Ringlink’s Cupar office RINGLINK SCOTLAND has appointed Pete Small as the new area manager for their office in Cupar, Fife. A well-kent face in the agricultural community, Mr Small has a lifetime of experience in the industry. Coming from a long line of farmers, he grew up on the family farm near Leuchars and developed a wide range of experiences and skills since leaving Bell Baxter High School in the late 1970’s. “I’m delighted to join Ringlink in their newest office and I’m eager to promote their wide range of services throughout Fife, Kinross and beyond, commented Mr Small. Ringlink naturally chose Cupar as its local base, which as we all know is the agricultural capital of the Kingdom. It’s reassuring to be working with such an experienced team and none more so than Tom Easson, who specialises in supplying labour for the region.”
IT’S THE most wonderful time of the year to be a Scottish Machinery Ring Association member – as from log cutters to road gritters, turkey producers to Christmas tree suppliers, the diversity of SMRA members is in the spotlight in the run up to the festive period. Since the first Scottish Machinery Ring was established in 1987, the association has become one of the success stories of Scottish agriculture and rural business, helping the 7000 members under its banner to optimise efficiency and generate income. With input costs dictating the profitability of all farms, the association can deliver substantial savings on machinery, labour and commodities, as well as offering access to a vast array of training and skills development – all of which are particularly handy for supporting agri-businesses during the busy festive season.
