Advertisement A mural depicting former Rural Fire Service commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons has been defaced for the second time, amid a disagreement between street artists and a state government graffiti removal program. The mural, which is painted on a wall at Erskineville train station, in Sydney’s inner west, was found to have been defaced on Wednesday morning. Security hired to patrol fire hero Shane Fitzsimmons mural after it was defaced by thugs

Security guards have been hired to protect the mural of fire chief Shane Fitzsimmons after it was defaced by thugs. The artwork at Erskineville Railway Station in the south west of Sydney was vandalised on Tuesday, just a day after it was unveiled.  The mural was created to honour Mr Fitzsimmons and raise awareness about Graffiti Removal Day- a time where locals come together to remove vandalism.   Two security guards have been placed to protect the mural of NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons after it was vandalised (pictured) The tribute to the former NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) Commissioner was graffitied with the words Mad Aries and Mural Removal Day in bold paint on February 9.
