SLMS Band Students Selected For NW Iowa Middle School Honor Band Festival Tue 12-22-2020 (Spirit Lake) Four Spirit Lake middle school band students have been selected to participate in the 53rd annual Northwest Iowa Middle School Honor Band Festival.  Video auditions were submitted on Monday, December 14.  While the number of auditioners was down from previous years, 244  seventh and eighth grade band students from northwest Iowa schools auditioned for a position in one of two honor bands.  The selected students will perform a concert in the Spring if committee members deem it appropriate and safe. Selected from Spirit Lake Middle School are:  Eighth graders Blake Fullmer-trumpet, and Sam Hawkins-euphonium/baritone; and Seventh graders Ellie Bolluyt-clarinet & Tucker Nikkel-french horn.  In addition, Sam Hawkins was selected from a recall audition to represent Northwest Iowa at the All-Iowa 8th Grade Honor Band in May, 2021 in Des Moines.  Spirit Lake Midd
