SCV Water Votes To Approve Dedication Of Central Park In Honor Of Saugus Shooting Victims
The Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency (SCV Water) board approved the addition of the names of Saugus shooting victims to the signage of Central Park on Tuesday, marking the end of a months-long campaign on the part of the children’s parents.
The decision, passed with a 9-3 vote, comes as a relief for the families of Gracie Muehlberger and Dominic Blackwell, two Saugus High School students killed in the November 2019 Saugus Shooting.
“We were definitely emotional, excited, elated last night,” said Bryan Muehlberger, Gracie’s father in an interview with KHTS on Wednesday. “A number of the board members had great comments, though some had reservations… we’ll be working with the City on the final rendition of the sign now that it’s been approved.”
Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency board members voted Tuesday to approve appending Central Park’s name in honoring the Saugus High School shooting victims, following heated commentary from residents who urged them to pass the designation.
The approved move in a 9-3 vote was to add “Central Park In Memoriam of Gracie Muehlberger and Dominic Blackwell” onto the base of the west monument sign located at the entrance of the park, which currently has signage of the city and the water agency, along Bouquet Canyon Road.
The board considered three options, recommended by an ad hoc committee created to consider the matter: append the park name, add a plaque with the same phrase on a pillar of the entry sign or make no change to the sign but provide the city with other alternatives for separate signage.

The second annual “Caroling With Gracie” food drive charity event drove car parades through Santa Clarita Wednesday night to spread holiday cheer, and collected over 2,000 cans of food and cash for local non-profits.
Wednesday night saw the first of two nights of cars and trailers driving through Santa Clarita neighborhoods, drumming up holiday cheer and attention for the GracieStrong charity event.
“Caroling With Gracie was a huge success,” said Bryan Muehlberger. “We just delivered 2,083 canned goods and food items to Santa Clarita Grocery and collected $250 in cash for SCV Family Promise.”
Family Of Saugus Shooting Victim Speaks On Federal Ghost Gun Investigation
Bryan Muehlberger, father of Gracie Muehlberger, victim in the Saugus Shooting, commented on recent developments in a federal ghost gun investigation Sunday.
In 2019, a Saugus High School student used a ghost gun to shoot five students, killing two, 15-year-old Gracie Muehlberger and 14-year-old Dominic Blackwell.
The shooting led the Blackwell and Muehlberger families, alongside the State of California, to open a federal lawsuit against the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), in order to crack down on so-called “ghost guns” that skirt laws requiring background checks and age verification.

The second annual Caroling With Gracie food drive charity event drove car parades through Santa Clarita Wednesday night to spread holiday cheer, and are expected to do the same Thursday night as well.
