Century Downs hosted a packed card of action Saturday (July 2) which included six $7,500 eliminations for the Alberta Sires Stakes with three Alberta Marksman eliminations for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings and three Alberta Diamond eliminations for three-year-old pacing fillies.
Kelly Hoerdt trainee Codename Cigar Box once again reigned supreme over his peers, overcoming an assigned outer post to win the $13,500 Preferred Pace on a 17-race cavalcade at Century Downs on Saturday (June 25).
A pylon violation by Graceful Horizon cost her a win in Tuesday’s $13,500 feature race at Century Downs, and her misfortune turned out to be the good fortune of Betcha Baby who was second-placed-first in the card’s main event.
Off a runner-up finish to end his six-race win streak, the four-year-old Custard The Dragon gelding Codename Cigar Box landed back in the winner’s circle at Century Downs on Tuesday (May 24) with a win in the $10,500 featured pace.
Odds-on favourite Graceful Horizon blazed the Century Downs oval on Saturday (May 14) to post a track-record mile in winning the $30,000 Bev Sears Memorial.
