Call The Midwife,
Amazing Grace follows Grace Cresswell (Jenkinson), a dedicated midwife at an unconventional Sydney birthing centre, whose life is turned upside down when the daughter she gave up for adoption 17 years ago arrives on the clinic’s doorstep and promptly gives birth. Over eight episodes, Grace struggles to resolve her differences with her own mum Diane (played by Jenkinson’s
Wentworth co-star Sigrid Thornton) and overcome the defences of her newly arrived daughter Sophia (
Frayed’s Alexandra Jensen) while at the same time helping her patients through their dilemmas.

In her research preparing for her
Amazing Grace role as a midwife, actor Kate Jenkinson, watched a lot of TV.
But it wasn’t
Offspring.
One Born Every Minute.
“I watched a lot of that show as part of my research,” she tells
TV Tonight. “Other than professional midwives, I feel like I’ve seen more babies getting born than any other human on the planet!
“But I can understand why people continue to, and will continue to, write stories, incorporating birth & motherhood. It’s the most important relationship that you will ever have …between you and your parents, and especially the woman that grew you inside her.”
