The state government of Uttar Pradesh, India, has started exporting the Allahabadi Surkha variety of guava to Oman. The first batch of guavas, along with another variety called Allahabadi Safeda, has been dispatched to Oman from Lucknow. The move aims to increase the earnings of farmers in the region. The guavas are known for their deep pink pulp, apple-red skin, and fewer seeds. The fruits were procured directly from farmers at prices higher than the Indian market price. The export firm plans to send two more consignments to Oman and other countries in the future.
