months telling everybody we don t need a tow truck. that s the situation we re in. and i guess the question then becomes, do they listen to them, what do they do? in arkansas they were giving away big screen tvs, they still couldn t get the high school kids to come in in any real numbers. you suggested, gene, if you want to go to a football game, you want to throw a party, i m quoting you here, for the love of vince lombardy, get a shot. if it was a requirement in football-crazy places like texas, like arkansas, where you see vaccination rates are low, you have to get vaccinated to go see your kid play. maybe that would work. absolutely that would work with a lot of people, i think. of course it s been going to happen, the governors aren t going to do it. yeah, but let s call them what they are, they re mandates. a lot of employers are putting
conservative voter flinch when they see the picture of chris christie hugging barack obama. but of all the senators running, marco rubio sponsored more legislation with democrats and chris christie s executive experience but extremely unpopular. he s experienced but hasn t done well. these are great talking points but flaws in all of them. one of the things i thought that rubio could be the bill clinton of the republicans, bill clinton 92 of the republican party. bring more people in, inject a youth to the race. he hasn t done that. what s interesting is this is a race where governors aren t on the platform in an interesting way, voters are looking at legislators i guess because they think that through washington is where they re going to make their rules. i m not sure being bill clinton in 92 say great idea considering he won because there was a third candidate in the race. you re with us all hour. we have more to talk about. we ll get to the democratic side and el chapo as
syrian refugees will not be allowed to resettle in their states. and there you see the yellow there, then 14 governors have said the federal government should not accept refugees, period. but stopped short of saying their states would reject them. bottom line, ron, this is playing out about security. yeah, and first of all, the republican governors aren t going to be able to stop this. i can understand why the governors have concerns. i can understand why people have concerns about their security. i can understand why they don t trust this president. why they don t trust the government to be able to do this right. but we have to take a breath and realize that 70% of these refugees are women and children. that this program that we have for settling refugees is not like over in europe where they re flooding over the border hap haphazard, it takes 18 months to get through the process and get on our soil. the program has been a success, about 1.5 million refugees have
national governors so tp it wasn t to discuss a specific plan nor to dismiss a certain plan but as governors we have a seat at the table and part of the discussions both in terms of the impact of our finances and economies in each of our respective states in this country. the things i talked about is similar to what others talked about, concerns about the economy and finances and offering up suggestions that we re going to follow up on as an organization as ways that we can highlight things that are good for the economy and our states and for our finances but it s similar to discussions later with the congressional leadership where governors aren t we re not elected to fix all of the problems in washington. the president, members of congress are here to do that. we re here to offer a resource in a way that could help not just our state governance but the way we represent our individual states.
hour, which is also the current minimum wage in the state of north dakota. berg didn t always lack knowledge on the subject matter here because as a state legislature he voted against raising the minimum wage, count them, three times. he voted against a bill that would require government contractors to pay workers a living wage. he isn t completely against the idea of wage increases. in fact, he s voted to raise salary of state lawmakers. god for bid if romney gets in but don t you think this guy would be good for romney administration official. they sure think alike. they know about as much. next, radical republican governors aren t letting up on their assault of public education. we talk about how they are getting away with it. that s next. makeup artists have everything to make my skin look its best.
